I don't know much about the release process of the GUI (and even less about the Query Builder). In terms of deployment, the GUI is deployed in multiple context (WDQS / WCQS), where the code itself is the same, but additional configuration is injected. The deploy repo has a config folder <https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/plugins/gitiles/wikidata/query/gui-deploy/+/refs/heads/production/sites/> that contains those different configs. This mechanism needs to be replicated in some way in a k8s context.
