It certainly isn't; I've already identified problems caused by the Wikipedia 
app doing so in another context.

Consider, for example, the use-case of a descritption that includes a string 
representing a chemical formula, say:

  (NH4)2SO4 

or a description of an album by, say, the band called:

  Empire! Empire! (I was a Lonely Estate)

It's really not a good idea to use parentheses to split what are conceptually 
two different data fields.
