I guess you are right about this being a memcached thing, as getFingerprint should never return null. I double checked the code, and even after the changes that where made to it recently, it still looks correct. I guess the break is coming from the protected field in Entity being changed into a private field in both derivatives. Such changes really should not break things though... it's certainly not realistic to avoid them altogether. Better make the memcached usage more robust.
