We want to give users a better experience when browsing Wikidata. One way to achieve that is giving them a little hint about what is behind a link to another item or property so they can see the content at a glance without having to open the entity. This is especially useful for Wikidata because most of the time it is enough to see a picture, the label and description of the target to determine if it is the correct one.=Story
Allow page previews to appear on wikidata containing the description of each item
In order to do this we will take Hovercards out of beta features mode on Wikidata.=Acceptance Criteria
Previews on wikidata must contain the following:
- Wikidata description (if available)
-- for pages that do not contain a description, the generic card must not display
- Label
- Image (if available) - as wikidata only displays free images, we can still have the default to "any" image
-- If a page has no description and no image, the generic card will display
- Descriptions will be on by default for all logged-in and logged-out users
-- Logged-in users may turn off descriptions within their user preferences
