I found that wikibase:box works ok if used with literal "Point(..)"^^geo:wktLiteral.
However wikibase:around didnt work with literals - it returns zero results.
So geospacial searching only works in very limited cases.
As it has been a few months since this regression was reported, and it is prioritised as Normal, I think the manual needs to be updated to note that it doesnt work currently.
