In case you consider scenarios where clients perform federation, you might be interested to see that lightweight interfaces can outperform full SPARQL interfaces: http://linkeddatafragments.org/publications/jws2016.pdf#page=26 However, if you have the means to do it at the server side, I'd definitely recommend doing that. I just have doubts on how scalable this would be, with regard to other servers that might not have those means.
