I am a bit surprised that a call for papers seems to touch such a nerve here. Agreed, this mailing list can be very chatty and not only on "call for papers", but doesn't that come with the territory? I briefly scanned this "Call-for-papers" and I actually can see that it might appeal to some communities within the Wikidata universe, so I don't think we should censor this just yet.
We should also not forget that Wikidata has achieved a lot and as such is inspirational to many. With that comes the burden of having to accept some level of "spammy call-for-papers". just my 2ct.
