Hi Erik, My input would be to say "yes" to WikiEducator being a testbed of sorts, for innovations ~ particularly at this early phase in the overall project lifecycle.
I also think it's an important message to people is that we're open, evolving and trying new things - some that work well, and others, well we just learn more from. - Randy ________ Randy Fisher - aka "WikiRandy for WikiEducator" iCentro Networks Vancouver, BC +1 604.684.2275 www.icentronetworks.com www.hirerandy.com Skype / Gmail / Yahoo: wikirandy ----- Original Message ---- From: Erik Moeller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, November 26, 2007 10:38:43 AM Subject: [WikiEducator] Re: Liquid Threads ... a couple of months on: thoughts? Well, one of the benefits of a structured discussion system is that you can query, sort & display it in any way you want -- as opposed to regular talk pages, which are (from a programmatic perspective) an utter mess. We haven't implemented sorting yet, but it's probably going to happen as part of the ongoing Wikia work. I guess one open question for me, from the point of view of a WikiEducator Advisory Board member, is whether or not WikEd is a good testbed for new and experimental technologies. Because if it is intended to be, then incremental improvements and temporary inconveniences come with the territory. And if it isn't, then we should kill about half of the experimental extensions that we're running, because I can pretty much guarantee that they will inconvenience users sooner or later due to syntax or feature changes, regressions, etc. -- Toward Peace, Love & Progress: Erik DISCLAIMER: This message does not represent an official position of the Wikimedia Foundation or its Board of Trustees. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Never miss a thing.
