This is a great win for the free knowledge community in general, but
learning for development in particular.

Assuming a successful outcome to the community vote, the WikiEducator
community -- through Learning4Content -- will be able to add
considerable value to the educational use of WMF projects in a variety
of contexts. Learning4Content is a pretty big project and to the best
of my knowledge will be the largest training initiative in Mediawiki
editing skills.

I commend the WMF board for their bold approach in taking this
resolution. We compatibility among the copyleft alternatives of the
free content licenses will enable us to leverage the unique
capabilities of digital content. Digital content is infinitively
scalable and this will have a huge impact on widening access to free
knowledge.

The WMF is one of only a few free content initiatives that actually
define what they mean by "free" content through the free cultural
works definition. This will be an asset in the voting process because
WMF will be able to focus on the values rather than pragmatic
idiosyncrasies.

>From us here at WE -- CONGRATULATIONS WMF for leading again.

Cheers
Wayne
