Hi everyone,

We're making history and we need your help. This is the first policy
to be developed in WikiEducator which has arisen out of the
requirement to certify the skills of WikiEducators participating in
the Learning4Content initiative.

Certification is optional -- but we nonetheless need a framework to do
this by implementing a reliable and trusted peer-based system of
assessment and credentialisation.

I have posted a draft policy for discussion and would appreciate all
comments, refinements and suggestions by 25 February 2008 (PST) so we
can get achieve consensus and get this operational.

Here is a copy of the draft policy:

http://wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Policy_for_skills_Certification

We need:

1) Comments and suggestions for improvement -- please post these on
the corresponding talk page of the proposed policy.
2) We need to generate a list of FAQs and answers based on the policy.
Please add this info directly on the draft policy page.
3) We have specified the skills requirements for the first four levels
of the Wikimaster typology -- these are pretty straight forward.
However we need to review, refine and specify the skills requirements
for the following levels:

a) WikiArtisan

http://wikieducator.org/WikiMaster/WikiArtisan

b) WikiTrainer

http://wikieducator.org/WikiMaster/WikiTrainer

c) WikiMaster.

Please post your comments and suggestions on the relevant talk pages.

Remember -- the certification system is optional - and will not suite
the style and preferences of all our users. That said -- many
WikiEducators want a system to recognise community kudos. We need to
design and provide a high quality and credible certification service
that is trusted and respected by the community.

WE appreciate your help.

Cheers
Wayne

PS. In the absence of a policy on policy approval -- we will be
working with the consensus model here <smile>.
