So I'm attempting to get an experiment together which focuses on the development of the kind of AV stuff that might allow users to take an easy transition from chat, to group chat, to talk, to conference, to skypecast/stream'record. It's one of the easiest to see how the OU supports their learners with real time comms (RTC) stuff. To take a global perspective to what they're doing it needs the collaboration of an Open VoIP carrier. I'm focusing on Gizmo as they're an open (standards, protocols) version of Skype. You may not know of OCLC but they're the 'owner' of the dewey decimal code. They have a real time chat baby called Questionpoint, hanging off a few hundred (thousand?) library sites. It's about time it grew up as well.
