I agree Leo, it was a nice piece... it showed a side of China that Chinese no doubt would like the world to see, and one the world would like to see more of. But it also shows an unwillingness to take account of the China many of us outside of China see. From a marketing point of view, I'm not sure which is better - to show the ideal China, or to show the ideal China through acknowledging the pains. In answering my own question - in terms of marketing, showing only the ideal is perhaps safer, and would be effective if it was persistent. I really did enjoy the clip, but when I forwarded it on to friends and colleagues they all replied cynically with images of beaten Tibet monks, tanks in Tiena min Square, and harassed Taiwanese. A very unfortunate reaction from them and more short sighted Western hypocrisy in my eyes, but a problem for the Chinese image none the less.
