Hi Declan, WikiEducator.org is a free content initiative and will always remain free as in "freedom of speech" --- our project is rooted and informed by the essential freedoms (See: http://www.wikieducator.org/Wikieducator_tutorial/What_is_free_content/Freedom_as_concept )
WikiEducator.org will not entertain advertising or OER content which does not meet the requirements of the free cultural works definition. (See: http://www.wikieducator.org/Wikieducator_tutorial/What_is_free_content/Free_content_defined ). In line with our core values -- we do not want to restrict the freedoms of individuals to earn a living. For example, their may be Learning Designers who wish to provide services on a fee for service basis in adding value to the quality of Wikieducator.org content projects. WikiEducator.com is an open initiative exploring how these services could add value to building a sustainable OER ecosystem -- not in competition with our project, but as a listing of optional services which are distinct and separate from the WikiEducator.org initiative. This could possible generate a small revenue, for example a 1% commission from gross sales of professional services to help support the WE infrastructure. The Wikieducator.com discussions are open, tentative and exploratory --- we're considering a variety of ideas to compliment and augment our OER project.
