I came across this article today in The Ottawa Citizen (Canada):

how small (rural) schools are banding together to serve their students
and communities....

I wonder how our WikiEducator community can help. Already, we have examples
from Bangladesh and New Zealand, of schools that are using the wiki for
developing OERs and plans for leveraging their teaching and delivery model.
Could Valerie's community service learning initiative have a role here?

‘Small’ high schools learn how to stretch resources
 Summit hears strategies such as split classes and online courses

OTTAWA — Split classes are nothing new for elementary schools. But now some
high schools in Eastern Ontario are also running split classes.

It’s not the only strategy small high schools are using to cope with falling
enrolment. They also “bundling” two or three courses together, using a
single classroom to teach a number of different courses at the same time.
And they’re offering online courses when not enough students sign up to fill
a classroom.

“It’s the new reality for us,” says Charlotte Patterson, superintendent of
human resources at the Upper Canada District School Board, which hosted a
