Workshop: How to Adopt an Open Textbook for a Community College Class

Wednesday February 3, Rice University, Houston, TX 10:30 am-3:30 pm

Co-sponsored by the Houston Community College System, Rice University,
the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources, and
the Community College Open Textbook Collaborative.  Funded by The
William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

Community College faculty members, administrators, librarians,
bookstore managers, on-line learning coordinators, instructional
designers, instructional technologists, and other staff are invited to
become Open Textbook Advocate/Trainers by participating in this
workshop and then facilitating a similar workshop on their campuses.
Travel expenses and a stipend are available.

Other interested parties are invited to the workshop on a space-
available basis; travel expenses will be reimbursed and lunch is
provided.

All participants are invited to an on-line pre-workshop presentation 3
pm-4 pm CST Wednesday January 27 and the face-to-face workshop 10:30
am-2:30 pm on February 3 at Rice University.

Those who have agreed to become Advocate/Trainers are requested to
attend the final hour 2:30 pm-3:30 pm on February 3 and a followup
online session 3 pm-4 pm CST Wednesday January 10. Advocate/Trainers
will have until March 31 to complete the tasks on their home
campuses.

To be reimbursed for expenses, bring original receipts and proof of
mileage to the workshop. Reimbursement will be received about 4 weeks
later.

More than 60 participants are signed up for the Florida workshops. How
