Hi Mike , I am not very geeky person , let me try to explain , correct me if
I am wrong, when I say google I mean google.cn ( Chinese google localisation
) and if you click google.cn now it is gone , and it will redirect it to
google.com.hk ( Hongkong version ) The main reason google decided to leave
China is beacuse in China mainland , it turn out to be very different
search results if you use google .cn and google.com it has many
consequences

1.what google does is to find the information you want and it is free , so
baidu for example , it provide the search results not based on pagerank but
based on a lot on who pays the money ,did you get the phone call from Baidu
people asking you to pay for the money so that they can raise your rank .

2 google have other services like gmail , google docuement etc , it is
possible finally we will not be able to use gmail , however I think it may
not ,coz google.com provide the gmail instead of g.cn

3 Foreign company , many foreign company rely on google a lot for their
Bussiness and marketing in China , it will create a nervous feeling and
harsh Internet reality to foreign company and investors

4 for those of you like me , relying on google to prepare my traning and
slides and even lesson plan , it also a disastar , we might need to think
abt to survive in a huge Intranet here in China

5 the worst case is China is going to totally block Google.com , let's hope
this is not happening at this time .
