Hi Everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend!

The OER Foundation and WikiEducator have just launched our international
gifting and recruitment campaign.

As a non-profit we do not have a corporate marketing budget. However, we
have a something far more valuable, our WE community and family who work
passionately and tirelessly to support our international mission. Far better
and more effective than a marketing budget :-).

The WIkiEducator project is unique and provides a significant point of
difference when compared to other public wiki projects. The vast majority of
WikiEducator's are teachers, lecturers or trainers working in the formal
education sector (>72%). Our project, in terms of its history, strategic
planning and organisational structure is purposefully designed to support
and assist education institutions to achieve their objectives using OER.

WE need the help of members of the WikiEducator family who work at formal
education institutions (i.e. Schools, Universities, Polytechnics. Institutes
of Technology, Ressearch institutes, private training organisations,
Ministries of Education etc.) to help spread the word about joining the OER
Foundation. Talk with your managers and heads of department to explore the
benefits of joining the OER Foundation. There are a range of options
including Donor Partners and a number of Contributing membership packages to
suite your needs (see:
http://wikieducator.org/OERF:Join#Table_of_OERF_membership_benefits_-_Detailed_Comparison).
The costs are extremely modest and the benefits are significant. Feel free
to schedule teleconferences with the OER Foundation to chat with you or your
leadership team to answer any questions. We practice open philanthropy --
so there are no hidden business secrets ;-) We can respond openly and
candidly to all your queries.

Join educational leaders like Athabasca University, BCcampus, the
Commonwealth of Learning, Empire State College (State University of New
York), MSUglobal (Michigan State University) and Otago Polytechic who, thus
far, have signed up as contributing members of the OER Foundation and will
qualify as founding members. (Note that WE profile founding members in a big
way :-) )

Take a look at our draft invitation text for ideas. You are free use this as
a point of departure for any discussions at your institutions (these are
licensed openly and you are free to adapt, modify and reuse :-) ) -- see:

http://wikieducator.org/OERF:Invitation_to_give_the_gift_of_knowledge

Feel free to contact me ([email protected]), Jim (
[email protected]) or the OER Foundation ([email protected]) to
discuss any questions you may have.

Also -- take the time to explore our donation and gifting campaign hub --
there is a wealth of valuable information.

Let's build sustainable OER futures together!

Exciting times.

Cheers
Wayne
