Hi All, Came across this interesting article in the Toronto Star.
A costume swap for Hallowe'en. If you change the words about costumes, to OERs, it sounds strangely familiar - <smile> http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/activities/halloween/article/872431--kids-can-re-wear-and-re-scare-at-costume-swaps Two great quotes 1. “It’s disturbing how much waste there is on Halloween,” she says. “If we can reduce the footprint a little by not buying new costumes, that’s great.” (Gee, there's considerable waste of resources in education - we can reduce our footprint, and increase our reach by building on each other's strengths, and re-using and remixing resources) 2. "People used to call me cheap, now they call me green,” she chuckles. (I've heard that somewhere before - WE's tagline is that Open Education is a sustainable and renewable resource. There's quite a green quality to our work! The gist here, IMHO, is that we can learn how to position our movement - and we're doing that - in a way that builds on our strengths of ideas and community - from other disciplines. - Randy ________________ Randy Fisher, MA, OMD Senior Consultant, OD/Change Management, Social Media, E-Learning, Collaboration & Performance Intersol Group, Canada Senior Consultant, Organization & Capacity Development International Centre for Open Education / OER Foundation, New Zealand Elected Member, WikiEducator Community Council, www.wikieducator.org +1 613.722.5577 (EST) Skype: wikirandy * Facilitating organizational learning, change, online collaboration and engagement * - Stakeholder/Community Engagement & Project Implementation - Change & Transition Management - E-Learning, Online Collaboration & Learning Communities - Social Media - Coaching & Facilitation - My Bio: http://www.communitybuildingexpert.com -- ________________ Randy Fisher, MA, OMD Senior Consultant, OD/Change Management, Social Media, E-Learning, Collaboration & Performance Intersol Group, Canada Senior Consultant, Organization & Capacity Development International Centre for Open Education / OER Foundation, New Zealand Elected Member, WikiEducator Community Council, www.wikieducator.org +1 613.722.5577 (EST) Skype: wikirandy * Facilitating organizational learning, change, online collaboration and engagement * - Stakeholder/Community Engagement & Project Implementation - Change & Transition Management - E-Learning, Online Collaboration & Learning Communities - Social Media - Coaching & Facilitation - My Bio: http://www.communitybuildingexpert.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "WikiEducator" group.
