WikiEducator uses an early version of LiquidThreads, an extension that hopes to bring a threaded discussion forum to the "talk" or "discussion" page that is associated with every content page. Unfortunately it does not implement email notifications when postings are made.
A couple of months ago [1] I added a small robot to WikiEducator that monitors LiquidThreads postings. If you opt-in it can mail you any new messages that are either: - on a discussion page of any page in your watchlist - in a topic/thread in which you have already posted [2] You "opt-in" by checking the LQTemail setting on the Gadgets tab of http://wikieducator.org/Special:Preferences This *can* generate a lot of email if a long discussion breaks out. You will probably want to configure your email program to sort these messages (perhaps by watching for '[WE-LQT]' in their subjects) into their own folder which you can read at your leisure. This feature is unique to the English WikiEducator and will probably disappear after the next MediaWiki upgrade, but I've found it a very useful interim addition and invite you to try it. I think it restores a lot of utility to the discussion/talk pages.
