Hi Everyone, (Apology for any double postings) The Why Open Education Matters Video Competition<http://whyopenedmatters.org/>is an opportunity for WikiEducators and OERu members to showcase their work and creativity in open education.
I hope a few community members will consider preparing a few entries. All videos will be licensed CC-BY which means we could use these in our free workshops on OER, Copyright and Creative Commons as well as future courses at the OERu. Cheers Wayne *About Why Open Education Matters Video Competition* Creative Commons, the U.S. Department of Education, and the Open Society Institute recently launched the *Why Open Education Matters*<http://whyopenedmatters.org/> Video Competition. The competition will award cash prizes, provided by the Open Society Institute, of up to $25,000 for the best short videos that explain the use and promise of free, high-quality open educational resources and describe the benefits and opportunities these materials create for teachers, students and schools. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recorded a great video to introduce the video competition. Videos are accepted until June 5, 2012. The winners will be announced July 18, 2012. Cash prizes include $25,000 (first), $5,000 (second), and $1,000 (Public Choice Award). Judges include Davis Guggenheim, Nina Paley, James Franco, and many others.
