If you mean replace them back *in* the project, I seem to recall quite vividly a multi-year battle was started over a certain editor (you know who you are) doing exactly that. Taking a very large article, working it over in her own user-space, and then slapping it back in place. *Some* of the other editors working that article didn't take too kindly to that approach. The fiasco that came out of that, is one of the reasons I don't edit in project as much as I once did. It's also *the* reason I no longer watch my watchlist.
