Jaundiced in that context is fine. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/jaundiced Sense 2: "Prejudiced; envious; as, a jaundiced judgment." Asking people to get "more calloused" is a bit more creative. It's not quite the same as saying someone is callous (unfeeling), but saying they need to become "Emotionally hardened" - or to use the more usual expression, to become thick-skinned: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/thick-skinned I guess you knew that all already, actually, but I wasn't sure if you were joking when you made the 'doctor' comment above.
