Great stats Erik, and I agree with Lodewijk that we seem to have lots of returnees! It is very puzzling about the increased activity of non-WLM uploaders. Of course there is a lot going on behind the scenes at Wiki Commons with categorization and id-checking and so on, but I feel that the vast majority of volunteers on Commons and other projects are also uploading photos themselves (like me).
It's just a thought, but I noticed that when I uploaded with my mobile phone, that my username was all in lowercase. I hope the usernames are not counted in a case-sensitive manner. Could this be a reason?
