Dear all,

In 2013, a group of students in the Masters Programme of Business
Administration at Bern University of Applies Sciences will take care of the
Wiki Loves Monuments participants' survey.

We suggest a survey that contains two parts:

Part 1: The focus of part one is to provide an international and longitudinal
comparison of the characteristics of WLM participants and to compare the
characteristic of WLM participants with Wikimedia/Wikipedia contributors in
general. This includes the analysis of participants' satisfaction and
suggestions for improvement.

Part 1 will be administered among all WLM participants. The questionnaire will
be largely inspired by the 2012 questionnaire in order to allow for
longitudinal comparisons. The international WLM community could of course agree
on any further questions to be included, provided that the questionnaire
doesn't become excessively long. The survey results can be compared to findings
from the analysis of automatically generated statistics for the contest
(participants' statistics, number of pictures uploaded, ratio of newly
registered users, etc.).

Part 2: The focus of part two is to provide chapters and WLM organizers with
useful information about the WLM participants that helps them design more
effective approaches for the acquisition and retention of new contributors.

Part 2 will be administered among WLM participants in countries where there is
a chapter opt-in; by this means we will make sure that we don't raise
expectations among participants in countries where there won't be any
follow-up. The questionnaire will be developed together with interested
chapters.
You'll find a project outline on the Wiki:

I'll use the opportunity of the meet-up on Thursday in Milano to shortly
present the survey and to gather your feedback and expectations. - We would
like to tailor the survey to your needs and interests - so please, be prepared
to give us inputs! ;-)

Do not hesitate to contact me or Karthik if you have any questions or comments.

Best,
Beat
