Inspired by the notion of the classical city quest, we opened the door for
cyclists to join Wiki Loves Monuments while on their bike saddles. After
several iterations, we discovered how the competition format may not be
working fully in our favor. We'll talk about how we are trying to mitigate
it.

Wikimedia Ukraine has been running Wiki Loves Monuments since 2012. Since
the second edition we started adding special prizes (such as 'Greek
heritage' or 'Elements of exterior') with a double purpose: increase
diversity of content we attract, and build interesting partnerships. This
lightning talk will cover our experience.

Wikimedia Ukraine has been organising Wiki Loves photo contests for over 10
years. Our goal is to keep participants interested and involved, and
maintain a good balance between retaining veteran Wiki Loves contributors
and keep the contest relevant and accessible for newcomers.
We will discuss different approaches that worked in Ukraine, share ideas on
how to improve different areas of Wiki Loves contests, and also hear the
ideas and experiences from the audience. We want to discuss a number of
problems and solutions to them, such as: building a monuments database,
biases in heritage lists, getting more diverse photos, community building,
attracting new participants, increasing use of images, evaluating large
numbers of upload, and others.
This session will be beneficial for current or prospective organisers of
Wiki Loves photo competitions all over the world.

(I hope I have not missed any!)

Hope to see you soon!

З повагою / Best regards,
antanana
