MarkMysoe’s edits are not only disruptive but they are so varied and widespread
that Admins and Check users are often eluded, its a good thing Basalisk is
back. Now that account and their socks have been editing for well over three
and half years and some medias have even incorporated their work and published
it. So what happens is that they (MarkMysoe and his socks) in turn use those
sources that were mirrored on other websites and cite them as their references
on Wikipedia. As crafty as it sounds it violate WP:Verifiablity. See
WP:CopyWithin and WP:ContentForking. Examples are Akan (Twi) at Rutgers and
Kingdoms of Ghana published on Ghana Web. That is how entrenched their edits
have become. Well, we can only blame some journalists for their lazy attitude
when gathering information. These were some of the things that got kwamikagami
(a Ghanaian) stripped off his admin status.
So Enoch my first suggestion is that lets make a formal request as The Ghanaian
community to the admins as has been mentioned already. I have not interacted
with TheHelpfulOne before so maybe Rexford can lead us there.
Secondly I will propose a radical idea, I don't know if it has been tried
before. Looking at their adaptability to the whole editing process why don't we
reach out to them and attempt to work with them. We could really tap some of
that energy to increase our cumulative edit count. There's no denying that
their actions are troublesome but they an experienced editor too who could
become useful if used properly and they've been around before many of us
started editing. Although I have tried this with them before they were not
willing to corporate. Maybe someone else could try again but with a better
approach.
Lastly, we could all just simply keep an eye on them, at least we know what
their interests are and the themes they mostly edit around. Aside that we
should include more of Ghana related articles on our watch lists since we don't
know the next account he might be editing with.
