Free Basics campaign is both confusing and misleading, They are posting ads around India "What net neutrality activists won’t tell you” etc. There are a number of good articles on the web. On the other hand a large number of my friends who signed this Facebook petition (I have talked to many of them) supported it without having any idea what they are supporting, In my opinion that's the worst part.
