This... is... amazing!! The idea of commonly seeing these on Wikipedia pages fills me with immense joy!
It seems to me like we might be able to kick off a big project to create and promote useful templates and guides for creating these. The dataviz movement is very popular among designers and journalists, and they're always looking for tools, lessons and data to practise on.
