Regarding the various "elections" in the movement and the eligibility requirements, I think I mentioned to some folks on Wikipedia Day that sometimes they have exceptions for technical editors, who might not make as many direct edits to the wikis.
Don't see anything like that in this case, but I'm sure I could reach out to the organizers if I felt strongly about it (which i don't).
