Following up on this thread...

A former curator of the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney is now the head of the
local studies library and Museum at Parramatta city council. He was one of
the curators present at world's first (?) wikimedian "backstage pass" tour
and editathon of museum, in 2009

I showed him this link library story that Peter posted (below) and he would
like to see if there's a possibility of replicating the experience and
build a wiki-angle into the local studies community in Parramatta. As he's
"the boss" we have a good opportunity to make a successful and potentially
long-lasting relationship!

There's at least three kinds of things that could be done, in increasing
order of difficulty:
- the regular 'local meetup' (like in that article below)
- a presentation, or several?, to the "computer pals" program for seniors
interested in tech (they get 200 people turning up sometimes - all locals
with free time and computer literacy, and an interest in sharing their
expertise).
- engagement with the local migrant/2nd generation communities who don't
have a historical connection to the Parramatta area - an important goal for
the local council. (Also a big potential for WMAu to engage with NESB
communities, and would also open the Chapter up for the opportunity to
access WMF grants for helping to improve "global south"
content/languages/communities if we're involved in supporting S.E. Asian
communities/languages on WP).

So, if the Chapter, or someone from the local area in Western Sydney wants
to get in touch with my friend directly, give me a shout and I'll introduce
you :-)
