just as a side-note, the million-euro funded http://europeana.eu,
broke down a month ago with "only" 2500 requests per second. contrary
to wikipedia, europeana targets not to store the information, but link
to other sites, like national museums.  the german bundesarchiv, who
donated 100'000 pictures recently to wikimedia commons is also one
