Ramesh,

We do expect a significant amount of applications though the actual number of
scholarships in limited. I cannot give a number at present as it the final
number depends on mathematical calculations.

The idea is to provide full or partial support to those Wikipedians who really
want to attend but cannot afford it monetary wise. For those who can bear their
own cost - of travel or accommodation or have someone they can stay with in
Mumbai, we encourage them not to apply for scholarships or apply for part
scholarships as necessary so that those who need it most can benefit from it.

In true Wikipedian spirit, we assume utmost good faith and request everyone
applying for the scholarships to practice the same.

Kind Regards,

Yes - but please let us not use this list for such private queries. We have a
number of submissions, and the form seems to be working fine. If anyone has a
general problem with making it work, that is a valid query for this list.

We need to step up the availability of the form in different languages, for
which I urge listmembers here to please spread the word to the language lists.
As a corollary to this, we need to be sure that the googledoc form will allow
us to merge all the submissions in different languages, and if this feature is
not possible, we need to evolve a process for harmonisation of the different
spreadsheets/forms. People with expertise on using the forms feature on Google
spreadsheets please do volunteer.

Hi Vickram,

I filled out the scholarship form early this morning (an hour after you posted
it). Can I know if the form was submitted successfully? Thanks!

Applications are invited for travel/boarding scholarships for WikiConference
India 2011. There are a very limited number of such scholarships, and it is
also possible to apply for partial assistance, in case you can handle part of
the costs on your own - doing so will ensure that more Wikipedians will be able
to get assistance. Provisions have been made for participants from special
interest groups. Applications will be welcomed until Aug 15, and the decision
process will be completed by the first week of September 2011. Please study the
form carefully before submission.

We look forward to plenty of active participation at the conference, with the
help of all Wikipedians.
