The only major reason that my use of Commons has gone down is because I don't think that I'd be doing justice to the article with a pic taken from my camera (2 MP) of my mobile phone will be of any help. I do not particularly like my own pictures.
Quite a few people have told me that having a low-res pic is better than no pic at all, but this has not moved me to upload more pics to Commons. Yes, these misconceptions exist. Also, have not tried video or audio upload. A video of a Bangalore traffic snarl for a small period might be good?
