I feel that societies which don't have such a long tradition with the printed word (or are mostly oral societies) have a distinct disadvantage while trying to match up to global Wikipedia requirements (for 'notability', referencing, etc). This gets doubly bad when someone needs to reference non-English texts, which might not be visible in cyberspace itself. Do make a case for the need of separate standards when writing about Asian-African-LatinAm societies in the Wikipedia. This will go a long way in creating a level playing field.
