Hi Bodhisattwa, Yes, I completely agree with views on the chat client. I personally don’t use that chat client for the very same reason :)
I remember a particular Upper House(Rajya Sabha) debate chaired by Vice-President where IT Minister himself acknowledges issues with Whatsapp. My concerns (definitely minor) were there are several other websites and chat software who spread fake news and also acknowledge when asked. It is just a perception to view - One can say Wikimedia community is specifically targeting one chat client. One can also say, taking the name of the chat client only refers to the larger base of fake news websites and chat clients, considering this chat client has the highest number of users in India (no figures but can be easily believed). Again, I am not a lawyer and my concerns could hold less gravity. A suggestion - Why don't use ask Wikimedia Foundation Legal Team to reflect on the matter. We say find any gravity we can dubb that, maybe.
