I recently sat down and figured it out myself, for what it's worth, but it took quite a few hours of "hmm, is this what I'm meant to do?". Documentation (especially on "editorial decisions") is often sparser than on Wikipedia, so it's easier to feel a bit lost as to what you're meant to be doing and whether you should code something as A, B or C.
It feels a bit to me like Wikipedia in 2005-6 - you can figure out what you're doing with a bit of effort, but you're never quite sure how it's going or if someone else approves. - Andrew.
