Quoting Stevie Benton <[email protected]>:

Hello again,

Just a reminder that the deadline for this is 1 September so please do take
a look and share any thoughts you might have on this.

I have jotted a quick, brief, note on the WM-UK wiki. We're early-on when it comes to getting City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) meetings archived to Commons (or, perhaps more-appropriately, Wikisource?)

But, that gives them a very modest cost-saving, ensures a far, far longer history of meetings would remain available (currently CEC only retains the last six months); we can, in return, ask the council to assist with the distribution of literature to increase local contributor-numbers.

I've got things there to the point that the council are interested, and likely receptive to the idea. Someone with more soft-skills, and patience, needs to pick this one up (perhaps even ask Jimmy to express an interest? That might be the tipping-point to get written agreement-in-principle, with the legal crossing Is and dotting Ts to be worked through).

The Open Government Partnership is hosting its annual summit<http://www.opengovpartnership.org/open-government-partnership-annual-summit-%E2%80%93-call-proposals> on
31 October and 1 November. This could be a good opportunity to build
networks in this area and find ways that we can demonstrate the value of
Wikimedia projects. We may be able to find ways to influence thinking
around open knowledge and how this can fit in with public policy. They have
issued a call for proposals which has a deadline of 1 September.

I wonder if this is of interest to anybody. There's a thread on this topic
on the Water Cooler of the WMUK wiki here<http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Water_cooler#Open_Government_Partnership_annual_summit_call_for_proposals>.
It would be great to discuss suggestions and ideas there.

Thanks and regards,

Stevie
