To celebrate Kindness Day on November 13 we are showcasing ways to practise
small acts of kindness on Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia Projects would not
exist without the support of the global community of volunteers, people
like you, who contribute to the projects.

Recognising and appreciating others can help other editors feel valued for
their contributions and it can leave you with a “warm glow” too! Here are
some suggestions on ways you can spread a little kindness on the Wikimedia
projects.

   -

Why not take a few minutes to thank someone and recognise their
contribution to the Wikimedia projects on their user page or use this
   simple feature <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Notifications/Thanks>
on the history page of an article.
   -

Maybe you’ve been impressed by someone’s contribution or used someone’s
image in an article, why not send them a note to let them know their
   efforts are appreciated?
   -

If you have led a Wikipedia training session recently, why not say hello
to the people who attended and check in with them to see how they are
   getting on?
   -

Wish someone a happy birthday on Wiki by joining the Birthday Committee
   <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Birthday_Committee>!
   -

The Wikimedia Foundation’s Editing Team has put in a new feature which
makes it easier to thank comments. See this diff post for more info

<https://diff.wikimedia.org/2025/10/13/revolutionizing-gratitude-a-new-era-of-thanking-comments/>
   .
   -

Recognise somebody’s contribution by giving them a Wikipedia Barnstar
   <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Barnstars>

See here for more ideas
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Kindness_Campaign#How_to_give_recognition>to
show your appreciation on Wikipedia.

Without your input, Wikimedia projects wouldn’t exist. Thank you! To help
us keep track of how Mini Wiki is being used, please use the #wmuk in your
edit summary, where possible. We’d love to hear from you on your experience
of using Mini Wiki. If you have an idea for a task you would like the UK
community’s help with that is quick and simple, email
[email protected].
