It is a good idea, as the 'adoptee' could perhaps call on his mentor if he
'got in trouble'. I have seen countless incidents of old editors who seem
to feel some form of 'ownership' of certain pages merely reverting because
someone saw something which they had not seen before and they feel
slighted.

I hasten to add that it varies from language to language, Portuguese the
worst offender in my opinion. Therefore, it is a question of the culture
that evolves among contributors and it is thus something that we can
influnce by nipping in the bud in growing the Wikipedia in the various
national languages.
