Subject: RE: Re: [Wikimedia ZA] Invitation to partake in JoburgpediA Hey,

this really sounds interesting! I'd love to forward it to the
[cultural-partners-l] List, what do you think? I see this as a great chance to
share experience and ideas around those QRpedia projects, and the list is
subscribed by many interested people from the whole movement.

Best,
Nicole

Subject: [Wikimedia ZA] Invitation to partake in JoburgpediA

 Hear ye, hear ye

It is agreat pleasure to announce the formal endorsement of JoburgpediA
concept and the pilot project under this name, by the City of Johannesburg.
This means that we now have the permission to install QRcoded ceramic plaques
next to the prestigious City of Johannesburg Heritage plaques!

JoburgpediA follows on the foot steps of MonmouthpediA that was a great
success in Wales, and will be the first such project in Africa. Where better to
start it than in our very own Joburg?

The pilot project will be implemented between February and June 2013 and will
depend on a lot of volunteer wikimedians to assist in:

1- Translating submitted meta data into as many local languages as possible.
As well as French, German and Portuguese.

2- Organising and conducting 2 editathons.

3- Setting up and batch uploads of meta data that will be donated into
Wikipedia.

 4- Creating templates

If you feel this is something you would like to spend the next 4 months doing
then please contact the project leads as follows:

 Dumisani Ndubane : [email protected]
 David Richfield: [email protected]

You can also access basic project information and follow project progress on
our chapter wiki below:

We look foward to your positive response and feel free to extend this
invitation to your friend and families who may be as passionate about Jo'burg.

 Regards
