Good Morning Chapter members
Thank you for the interest you have shown in the Chapter and in growing the
Wikipedia movement in South Africa and Africa.
This email details the outcome of the 2025 Annual General Meeting and also
advises on next steps.
In the 2025 AGM five board members were successfully seated:
Bobby Shabangu
Michael Graaf
Rossouw van Rooyen
Khethiwe Marais
Dumisane Ndubane
As per the ratified Incorporation of Board members the Chapter requires seven
board members to be seated for 2026.

Last week, Mr Bobby Shabangu was appointed to the Wikimedia Foundation board of
trustees. He will relinquish his seat as a Wikimedia South Africa Board member.
In the interim the current board remains seated until the remaining three seats
are allocated.
What does this mean?
The Chapter will host a special AGM to vote for candidates to fill the three
vacant seats on the board.
When will this happen?
The Chapter is required to communicate to its chapter members 30 days prior to
that special AGM.
What to expect?
Communications on the 30th November 2025 detailing:
Special AGM date.
2024 AGM minutes.
Financial statement for 2024-2025 year.
Expression of interest form for new board members.
Voting requirements for the Special AGM.
