Dear Wikimedia South Africa Community, As we approach the incredible milestone of Wikimedia’s 14th anniversary, the chapter would like to spotlight the voices that make this movement possible: yours.
The chapter invites all members of the community to participate in our celebration by recording a short, 1-minute video sharing your personal experience with Wikimedia South Africa. Whether you are an editor, a reader, or a donor, your story is a vital part of the sum of all human knowledge. What to share? You don’t need a professional setup; a simple recording on your phone is perfect! You might consider: - What motivated you to start contributing to Wikimedia South Africa? - A favorite memory or "wiki-adventure" you’ve had. - Why do you believe free knowledge is important for South Africa. - A simple "Happy 14th Birthday, Wikimedia South Africa!" message in your home language. Submission Guidelines: - Length: Maximum 60 seconds. - Format: Landscape (horizontal) is preferred. - Language: Feel free to speak in any of our official South African languages! - Deadline: Please submit your clips by 15 February 2026. How to Participate: 1. Find a quiet spot with good lighting. 2. Record your message. 3.
