2nd monthly Odia Wiki Meetup, Cuttack, Odisha:
The 2nd Monthly Odia Wiki Meetup was organized at IITM Campus. 4 active
Wikimedians, Mrutyunjaya Kar, Jyanaranjan Sahu, Shisir Nayak and myself
have attended it.
*Session1:*
- Introduction about Wikipedia editing and problems during editing.
*Session 2:*
- Importance of outreach for Odia Wikipedia & impact.
The ideas which was projected by the Wikimedians are as follows:
- To start a new project with a target of 2000 articles by December 31
so that we get support by Odia Newspaper in covering Odia Wikipedia.
- To translate the English Wikipedia Outreach materials in Odia, so
that we can use it in Academies with high quality printing to
attract more
people to edit Odia Wkipedia.
- To create a list to top 500 articles, which exists in almost all
Indic languages, so that we can get users through interwiki links.
- If possible to organize a workshop in Bhubaneshwar, Dhenkanal,
NALCO (Angul) during the visit of Subhashish bhai in Odisha.
- A small discussion about the various causes of low attendance of
Odia wikipedians at the meetup.
- To organise a regular IRC/Village pump discussions Odia wikipeians
every month and finalisze of the wiki meetup date (to be decided after
discussion at village pump).
