Hi list, It was proposed in 2016 Community Wishlist to implement the open-source Internet Archive Book Reader <https://openlibrary.org/dev/docs/bookreader> in Commons and Wikisource (see this phab ticket <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T154100>).
A couple of days back, User:Jayprakash12345 has created a tool <https://tools.wmflabs.org/bookreader/> based on that request (see this phab ticket <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T240178>). To get a glimpse of what this new reader looks like, check the reader <https://tools.wmflabs.org/bookreader/read?file=https%3A%2F%2Fcommons.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FFile%3AThe_Life_of_the_Spider.djvu#mode/2up> for this book. <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Life_of_the_Spider.djvu> I think, we can now start a discussion whether this reader should be the default reader for Wikisource or Commons replacing the existing reader which is suitable for pictures but has limitations for viewing book. Regards, Bodhisattwa
