Thanks, Greg. As discussed before you left, we would also like to deploy Media Viewer on the Telugu and Kannada Wikipedias (1), as part of this Tuesday’s MediaWiki train.
In consultation with RobLa and Gergo, I have added this task on May 13 to the deployment calendar (2), and it is also outlined on this ticket (3). Gergo, Mark or Gilles, could one of you create a patch in Gerrit today for this deployment, as needed? We would like to deploy on these two Indic language wikis as soon as possible, so we can find out if there are serious performance issues in regions where slow connections are more prevalent. If image loads are significantly slower in cases like these, we may have to consider an opt-in preference (instead of the opt-out we now have). To that end, these two pilots can inform our planned release on all wikis at the end of the month. Please let us know if this plan works for you.
