You can help write the next newsletter: whenever you see information about
Wikimedia technology that you think should be distributed more broadly, you
can add it to the next newsletter at <
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/Next>.

More information on how to contribute is available at <
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News#contribute>. You can also contact
me directly.

As always, feedback (on- or off-list) is appreciated and encouraged.

*Changes this week*

   - The visual editor uses the TemplateData extension
   <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:TemplateData> to make editing
templates easier. You will now get a warning when you edit a TemplateData
form and leave it without saving. [3]

   - [image: Octicons-tools.svg] MediaWiki will get a new authentication
and authorization system called AuthManager. This is planned to happen in a
month or two. Some bots will need to change how they log in. Two new and
more stable authentication methods will be available now: Owner-only
   OAuth <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:OAuth> credentials and
bot passwords. You can read more about the change
