As we’ve noted previously <https://lists.wikimedia.org/hyperkitty/list/wikitech-l@lists.wikimedia.org/message/4KUEH7LAYTKMN5IZIF7B3WNE2V3C4HKT/>, Wikimedia will not be participating in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2025. To be clear, I was responsible for filling out the organization application form and somehow inadvertently missed a step in the process. I was unaware of this oversight until last week, after Google announced their decision as to which organizations would participate in this year’s GSoC program. As part of our Developer Outreach Team’s communication with Google, we were advised that since I had missed a step in the application process, Wikimedia would not be participating in this year's GSoC program. I deeply regret my error and know that this is a big disappointment for the mentors and prospective interns that had hoped to participate this year, but I completely respect Google’s decision. Looking forward to next year, we will do our best to ensure all process steps are completed in our application to be a participating organization in the 2026 GSoC cohort.
