Heh, I attended that talk but completely forgot about it. ;)

I was playing Portal again for kicks and looking at the developer 
commentary tracks. Portal spends a lot of time training users in a 
radically new gameplay concept. It's fascinating to hear all the tricks 
they used to get the player to learn things, as they played the game, 
almost without effort.
