Yes, this is one of the things mentioned: that it comes up quite regularly. And, assuming the response I got is any indication of reality, feelings on enwiki are pretty evenly split on the issue of share buttons. So, yes, Wikipedia lacks a "share" button. It lacks one because community consensus to support one does not exist. If the OP (jidanni) thinks this is an really vital issue, he has his work cut out for him.
