Since most desktop image software these days silently rotates images on 
display using EXIF orientation field, and MediaWiki until now didn't, a 
lot of users have been complaining that their uploaded photos display in 
the wrong orientation. Going forward the change should probably reduce 
unexpected behavior, but yeah, there seems to be a big backlog of 
wrong-oriented images now that assumed the previous behavior...
